Billy Kilson's BK Groove is a musical melting pot. Their funky jazz fusion is a summation of the vast talents, experiences and influences from each musician. Their discographies include some of the most recognizable names in jazz. As sidemen, they have toured all over the world, recorded with some of the top musicians, and received numerous accolades, rave reviews, nominations and awards.

Billy Kilson, drummer and leader of Billy Kilson's BK Groove, was exposed jazz, funk and R&B at an early age. His early influences include R&B legends such as George Clinton and Parliament, Sly and the Family Stone, Earth Wind and Fire and James Brown as well as some of his father's jazz favorites such as Count Basie and Duke Ellington. By his late teens he discovered recordings by Stanley Clarke and Miles Davis that featured Tony Williams. Mesmerized by Tony's drumming skills, Billy sought out his teacher, Alan Dawson, a professor at Berklee. While at Berklee he began to explore styles of legendary drummers such as Max Roach, Philly Joe Jones and Billy Cobham. After graduation he embarked on an illustrious sideman career with artists such as Walter Davis Jr., Ahmad Jamal, Diane Reeves, George Duke, Bob James, Larry Carlton and the Dave Holland Quintet and others. After touring for six years with Dave Holland Quintet and Dave Holland Big Band, Billy joined Chris Botti's band. Chris' acceptance in the pop world, enabled Billy to play for a wider audience as Chris opened for artists such as Sting, Josh Groban and Earth Wind and Fire.

Through the years, even though Billy was constantly touring, he was restless to create his own music. He revisited his musical roots and created a funk / fusion / groove concept and called the group, BK Groove. He invited his peers, some of the best musicians in the jazz world, to perform and record with him as part of BK Groove. The first project, While Ur Sleepin' featured Bob James, Dave Holland and Robin Eubanks as special guests. After a few dates performing with Kenny Davis, Mike Sim and George Colligan, Billy went back in the studio to record Pots & Pans. Pots & Pans garnered rave reviews including Jazz Times' declaration that "this ain't pretty-boy jazz your grandma smiles to."

As BK Groove progressed, scheduling conflicts became a problem, so BK Groove began to emerge as more of a collective than a set band. This enabled Billy to continually reach out to other musicians of his caliber who also had diverse discographies and touring experiences to perform with BK Groove. The rotation of band members keeps the sound fresh as each person brings a new perspective to the band. Some of the musicians that have performed with BK Groove are Kenny Davis, Henry Hey, George Colligan, Steve Wilson, Antonio Hart, James Genus and Mike Sim.

While Billy continued his sideman work, he constantly received compliments about his live performances from both fans and critics. Fans didn't just want to hear Billy, they wanted to see him perform. Encouraged by this demand, Billy recorded Rhythm Dancer, a live DVD/CD combination package. This collection features Billy "unleashed" playing his music with a stellar band including Kenny Davis (bass) Steve Wilson (saxophone) and Henry Hey (keyboards). The resulting sound is funky fusion with a solid groove, complicated rhythms and intricate jazz as well as jaw-dropping performances that only Billy Kilson can deliver.
